Summer Part-time job in Taiwan for American high school student?

Question by Yukidaruma1278: Summer Part-time job in Taiwan for American high school student?
I’m currently a high school junior and I”ll be in Taiwan this summer for about 5wks. For the first 2wks I’ll be busy volunteering, but after that I pretty much don’t have anything to do besides visiting relatives (and I don’t need that much time to do that).

Are there any part-time jobs I can do(preferably in Taichung, Taipei, or Miaoli)? I’m currently 16 years old.
I’m a 1st generation Taiwanese American (as in I was born in the US) so I can speak English and Mandarin fluently. I also speak a little Japanese too, but Idk if that’ll help…
Thanks for the tips so far!

Is it possible to get a job at a 7/11 or any other local convenience store? or are there regulations against that?

Does anyone know any well known/famous dermatologist in Taiwan?

Question by Akina V: Does anyone know any well known/famous dermatologist in Taiwan?
I need a really good dermatologists preferably in Taipei, Taichung or Miaoli, Taiwan. I am desperate for a good doctor that can help my eczema. I’ve tried many treatments and doctors in Dallas and nothing seems to help. I’m visiting Taiwan in June. If you know any please provide the name/address and phone number or website! Thank you!!

Well, I don’t know the names, but there are tons in Taipei.

But, have you considered a traditional Chinese medicine Doctor? I have read that there are proven herbal remedies for eczema.
If you have visited a derm. in Dallas, the treatment will be very similar here. Dr.’s usually use the same medications and treatments as their Western counterparts. They would prescribe the same medicines.

Ask someone who speaks Chinese to go with you to a traditional Chinese Dr. They may be able to clear it up with dietary advice. The Chinese have many “medicinal foods.” they use to cure everything. If you are open to it, try it. Their remedies have been proven to work over the past 2000 years.

I’m a girl living in Taiwan,
and I think that in Taiwan,
no doctors are exactly “famous”,
I mean, all they do is work in the hospitals,
how can they become famous?

But to answer your question,
even though you can’t find a famous doctor,
you can find a good doctor,
just head for the cities
where the hospitals have an abundant amount of resources,
and where the “bad” doctors have already been fired.
It’s very unlikely that you meet a bad one.

Taking Taxi from airport to Miaoli?

Question by JSM: Taking Taxi from airport to Miaoli?
My whole family(4 people) will be traveling from DC to Miaoli/Taiwan. My understanding is that no bus service between Miaoli and airport. The only option is taxi. Is it correct? I am wondering how much will it cost to get a cab from airport to Miaoli during late night time? Please advice. Thanks

You can ask this in Taiwan instead. The Cab fare is approx. NT,500 to NT,000 based on where in Miaoli you are refering to. But because of the recent oil price rise and the fare hike of taxis in some parts of Taiwan may change just that, so you have to expect to haggle a bit if possible cause majority of the Instate Taxis don’t run on meters.
